A faerie decided to become a photographer. Before I made a profession out of my photography - I was a professional faerie, for nearly 20 years. A part of my life that has forever shaped who I am. Creating costumes and characters and unbreakable bonds with the amazing women I performed with who became family. It has never really left me. I still am that faerie and I still spend my energy creating art and magic around me. I even attribute my faerie performing years to eventually becoming a professional photographer. All because of the wonderful photographer Karen Lisa, who is credited for the images you see in this post, who encouraged me to pursue and dream. I may still have been a photographer without her (more on that later) but I do believe I would have never been a professional one.
If I were a Disney faerie, I would definitely be a Tinker. My role in our little performing troupe of faeries was to create. Clothing, wings, positioning us when we grouped together, creating websites and art to go with our group. It was my job to make sure we all looked good. I guess I can look back now and see that my life isn't so different - I'm still doing all those things. I just now get to do them for others. It is joyful and fulfilling and I feel so fortunate that I've been able to create (or maybe it's continue) this dream.
So with all that. Little bits of my history and who I am and who I always will be - I give you Faerie Friday. Not something I invented, but something that I will celebrate on this blog every 2nd Friday of every month. And I will start with myself and my faerie family. They are the beautiful inspiration for every fantasy session.
